I aw your mter the day and she looks good. Mrs.Flores had selected two ans of kidney beans and put them on the counter. You must be taking good care of her."
Directions: Choose a line in the story that stands out to you, write the line and page number. Then, explain why you chose it.
A line that stands out to me is on page 45. It says, “lip speak lies, but the face speaks the heart”. It means you can lie but your face shows the truth. I chose it because it’s the truth. This always happens when don’t speak the truth. This is why I chose this line in the story.
"The line In this story I choose Is The wind, whistling across the vacant lots and though the rebrick and fire escape canyons of the neighbohood, had taken another summer."froom page 39. It standed out to me because It was the first sentence In the story and It make a person wanna read It.
"Things happen that hurt us deeply, and even though it's something we think should hold on to it's usually better to let it go (53)."
While Mr. Rodriguez speaks this line about Angela's grief over her father, it represents so many more ideas. In life, there are times where we will struggle with pain or miss people that we have to learn to let go in order to move forward. It will be important for us to remember to let go so that we don't get dragged down with guilt or pain.
An important line that sands out to me in the story is on page 51 first paragraph “Sometimes a child sees tings”. And to me that means as a child we see more then our own parents see and that is kina true. Because I can make a text to self with this line because I see a lot of things that my mom doesn’t see so that’s why I had chosen this line in the story Angela’s eyes to be my fravite.
“ Lips speak lies, but the face speaks the heart”. I like this quote because it reminds of when I lie. When I lie I accuse something or someone of false accusations and I start to laugh when I start to laugh when I lie. So this quote applies to me because when I lie you don’t know that I’m lying but when I smile my face expression shows it all. This sentence or quote as you could call it was found at the top of the page 45.
"stoop-shouldered beneath his white hair. His sad, dark eyes seeming to look into her soul.”
This line stands out to me because it kind of reminds me of the way I dreamt about my grandfather before he died, in some parts of my family we do believe in “eyes” that do see, in some parts we also believe in witch craft, so it is kind of a big thing to me. When I dream of my grandfather I will always remembered the way he looked like he was in terrible pain and that he was asking me for help and with his eyes it was like watching someone die so cold and icy. That is why this sentence stands out to me most. Bottom of pg.40
My favorite quote from this chapter was "none of them came out, but Poli died"(41). This goes back to previous chapters; expect the unexpected. No one knew that Poli was going to die, but people thought that they could win the lotto. It's crazy stuff, and soceity doesn't understand that. I think its called deja vu.
A line in the story that stands out to me is when the guy said leave angel alone because there is Alot of bad girls around their way and nobody bothers them so don,t bother her because she is nice. on page 51 .That line stood out to me because if i was the girl who could see people death in my head i would not want to be worried by every body who wants o no stuff. Also that line stood out to me because shes only 14 years old she cant give facts to a bunch of adults and i it is wrong A conflic may occur.
A line in the story that stands out to me is that part that says “When a man dies he leaves his eyes to his child, and that it was Angela’s father looking form the other side of the darkness and that he had seen Poli’s dying.” This line stands out to me because it is kind of creepy and it kind of has a point. But I disagree with the part when it says “When a man dies he leaves his eyes to a child.” I disagree with this because my dad didn’t die and I sometimes see things that will eventually happen and they really do, so that’s why I disagree. Pg 41-42
The line that stands out to me in the story Angela’s Eyes is “ The bad part is when the death grows in side of us.” (Page 48 and 49) The reason why I like this line and the reason why I choose it was because personally I am not afraid to die but I am scared of the fact of thinking about how I am going to die and when and where and with who and were I am going after I die. That is what I think the definition of the line is. The fact that sometimes you wonder about death.
The line that I picked was “lips speak lies, but the face speaks the heart” (pg45). The reason why I picked this quote is because when someone tells you a lie you can see it throw their face and you will know that they are lying. This line is also telling the truth about people and what kind of person they are.
"I bet my last dollar that there will be another war. babl something in the Middle East". I chose this because it shows me the selfeshness the people show about things that they beleive in.
The line that stands out to me is on (pg 50) at the bottom. When Angela said ‘’there were tears in Angela’s eyes and her mother took her hand and Mrs. Morales said do have dream? Angela looked up at Mrs. Morales and said I don’t mean about me’’, Mrs. Morales said quickly, ‘’I mean about her! I chose this line because it was passionate and it really got to me because I believe she was innocent when she had said that. It really stood out to me because I can actually visualize what she had said.
The line in the story that stands out to me is when Angela dreams about what is going to happen to people I chose this line because I dream about stuff that is really going to happen.
The line that I chose that I said stands out to me the most was “his sad, dark eyes seeming to look into her very soul. Angela felt the same sadness for him that she had felt for her father. (Pg.40)” The reason why I chose that line was because I think that was weird how she just imagined that he was going to die and the next day he actually died. Another reason why I chose that line was because those lines made me want to read more. The reason why it made me want to read more was because that part was really interesting.
The line I choose was “you are making something out of nothing”. This line is on page 45, this line stood out to me. It stood out to me because a lot of people make a big scene out of nothing. I have a friend that always makes a scene of things that are silly but she still makes something out of nothing.
One line that sticks out to me from Angela’s eyes is when titi said don’t look at me because she thinks if she looks into Angela’s eyes she will be the next one to die.
The line that stands out to me the most is when Mr. Rodriguez “ things happen that hurt us deeply and even though its something we think that we should hold on to its usually better to let go.”Pg(53). This line stands out to me the most because I can relate to it very well. Like when my grandfather died and I don’t even remember what the looks like. But all I can remember is his death and that’s the only way I can remember him but my mother says that it is not good to hold one to bad memories like that. So I tried to let it go but I sometimes have memories of my grandfathers death.
“There was an image in Angela’s mind. When her father died she had lived with the terror of knowing that he been killed in his taxi…” (Pg 48)
This is only part of the line that I choose to write about because well reading page 48 and it describe her pain and what happen to her father I could connect with her. The reason I could connect with her is because something similar happed to me and I could feel the pain Angela because when I was 5 my father was killed. The same way that Angela found out her father died is similar to how I found only different is my grandmother called my mother and told her the story and my mom stay with me and my grandmother want to the hospital.
A line in the story that stands out to me is "Idreamt about the black man who works in the restaurant near the post office" on page 44. I chose this line because i couldn't find one that stood out to me me, so i just took a random line.
Angela's Eyes, page 47, "today they talk about angela and tommorow they'll be talking abouy me," The reason why that line stands out to me is because, It is kind of simple to me that there already talking about angela, because she can see people deing in her thoughts or dreams. And they will be talking about the mother because that is her child. And that's why that line stands out to me.
Jorge Cruz, who was older than Mr. Rodriguez and whose dace was lined with his years, said that when a man dies violently he leaves his eyes to his child. That is crazy and it isn’t necessary true, it’s just something that one person believes.
I aw your mter the day and she looks good. Mrs.Flores had selected two ans of kidney beans and put them on the counter. You must be taking good care of her."
