Helen Keller and the boy from stuck in neutral are almost similar because they are both disabled. One they are both mentally disabled because the boy from stuck in neutral has a disease and he can't control his muscles and Helen Keller is blind and deaf. So that's why they are similar to each other.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading today's article entitled, "A Picture of Friendship," make two text-to-text connections to our class novel, Stuck in Neutral. Remember; use evidence from the article and the text!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read this article I noticed a few connections. One is Shawn and Helen both has disabilities. Another is Shawn and Helen both got these conditions when they were young. They both had to suffer from being different. This is my text-to-text connection.
In the article it stated, “Experts on Keller's life believe that it may be the only photo that shows the blind and deaf child with a doll.” In the book Stuck In Neutral the young boy Shawn couldn’t communicate with his mouth or he couldn’t see most of the times. Even when he could see his eyes controlled where his looked. The article stated “Once she had the use of language, the little girl, who was nearly 7 years old at the time, transformed from an angry, frustrated child without a way to communicate to an eager scholar.” I also think Shawn is frustrated too but when he learns how to communicate he will be an eager scholar also.
ReplyDeleteA text-to-text connection I can make is that Helen Keller and shown are both stuck in their body some how. The reason why I say this is because Helen is stuck in her body because she cannot talk or commucate with others but she’s learns to. The boy in Stuck in Natural is also stuck in his body because he can’t talk move and do other things. I connected these to together because they are kind of the same and I believe that the boy in stuck in natural is going to learn how to communicate with others. Also they both have to suffer because there’s nothing else to do or kill them but I don’t think someone will do that for them.
ReplyDeleteToday article A Picture Of Friendship is similar to the book that we are reading in class Stuck In Neutral because Helen Keller has a disability just like Shawn in the book Struck In Neutral. Shawn has CP he is unable to move a muscle or communicate his stuck in Neutral sitting inside his wheel chair. Helen Keller is both blind and deaf she has no way to communicate either. Both Shawn and Helen Keller learn how to communicate and are smart for people with disabilities. Both of them can’t talk both they learned to understand how to read.
ReplyDeleteWhile reading this article I noticed lots of text-to-text connection with the store we are reading in class called “ Stuck in Neutral”.
ReplyDeleteOne of the text to text connection I made was that both in “ A Picture of Friendship there is a girl named Helen Keller who is handicap and deaf and didn’t now how to communicate with others and got really made, and in the story “ Stuck in Neutral” Shawn is the same way he is handicap and gets really made because he cant communicate with others and is not able to express there selves. Another connection that I notice is that both Shawn and Helen were diagnosed with an illness at a young age and have to live with it for a long time.
After reading the article I have with the book is in one of the books me and my class is reading called stuck in neutral and he has a disability that wants to be fixed and same as there article we just read. Another text-to-text connection is Helen and the other girl had a disability. And Shaun has a disability as paralyzed.
ReplyDeleteThey both had illnesses. Shawn was paralized and keller was blind and non-hearing. They both are smart though. They understand what is going hard and both went through hard times since they has illnesses.
ReplyDeleteHelen Keller and Sean are alike in a very unique way. Everyone thinks that Sean is not that smart, he doesn't think, he feels pain and he is miserable. On the other hand, Helen is blind and deaf but people don't know what she thinks and how she thinks it. My point is everybody doesn't understand.
ReplyDeleteA text to Text connection between the story a Picture of Friendship and stuck in neutral is that Helen Keller and Sean are both disabled. Also even though Helen Keller and Sean are disabled they still can learn.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading the article one text connections is Helen and Shawn both have disabilities. Shawn has a CP, and Helen has a blind deaf disabilities. Another is Shawn and Helen have it when there young.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading today’s article and reading the book Stuck in the Neutral I can make many text-to-text connections. One text to text connection that I could make was that in the book stuck in the neutral Shawn couldn’t talk and in the article the little girl had a illness that make her not function as well. I know this because in the book Shawn could not talk and in the article the little girl could not talk at a point of time. Another text-to-text connection that I could make from reading the book and the article I could tell that they both would have been happier if they could communicate a little better. I know this because they both was ill.
ReplyDeleteThe text to text connection that I have to say about the class book " stuck in neutral has to be sense Shawn is a boy that has a problem he learns things off of life just like Helen Keller did.
ReplyDeleteThe article states that when she learn.
After reading today’s article, a picture of friendship, there is this little girl that is deaf and blind and cannot communicate with people easily. In Stuck in Neutral, there’s this boy named Sean and he has CP and cannot communicate with people as well.
