1) Based on Big Joe's funeral I think some comments that weremade were funny and serious. Funny like I thought he ws really dead, wow, oh my god, get out, you fooled me or you think your funny. The serious things would be that's not funny, or you scared me, I almost had a heart attack, you can't play like that or what's the matter with you.
ReplyDelete2) I want people to say how did he die, who got to see him before the dressing from the undertaker, when did he die, what time did he die, who was there when he died. You know curious stuff.
Based on the story people would of said that he was a good Pearson because in the story the lady on the third floor asked for money to bail her husband out of jail and that was ice and generris. Also at second thoughts I think some will proudly would say he was to much of a jokester and he went over the limit because that was not a good joke because someone that problem really liked him could o done some mean stuff to others or there self just because he passed away.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line in the story was when she brought the boom box to the park and played to music loud. The reason why that was my favorite part is because it was very funny. And she already no hat he was faking death.
" On page five in the book, the author writes that, "You could go to Big Joe and he'd listen to you and more than likely help you out, too."Bsed on the funeral people would say he was a good man, he helped people, he was funny.
ReplyDeleteAt Big Joe’s funeral, I believe that most of the people said good things about him because Big Joe was popular on 145th street. “If you were a little down on your luck and needed a meal, or a pair of shoes, or even half the month’s rent, you go to Big Joe and he’d listen to you and more than likely help you out too” (Pg.5) This quote shows that Big Joe is a friendly person and when you need help, he will be there. He’s a people person so no one would have anything bad to say about him whether he’s dead or alive. The only people who might have anything bad to say about him are Peaches “the hater”.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite quote of this chapter is “It’s almost as if the block is reminding itself that life is hard, and you have to take it seriously”. This quote inspired me in a way. It spoke to me and said that something good can happen but you never expect what the outcome of that will be. It could be a bad thing, no one knows. This quote just means live life to the fullest and don’t worry about the past or the future. I admire this quote a lot.
1) Based on the story, what types of comments do you believe people would say about Big Joe at his funeral?
ReplyDeleteAt big Joes funeral people would say that he was a good person and that he was a great man did right by everybody and was nobody’s fool. I know this because people were crying at his funeral and some people were really depressed. They thought he was gone.
2) Thinking about the short story, what types of comments do you want people to say about you at your funeral?
Well honestly to tell you the truth, what ever people say about me is what they feel, I would want them to say nice things but I wont let myself down by wishing and praying they do when most likely they wont.
Based on the story people would say about big Joe funeral that he decided to have a funeral early so when he passes that they will cancel his insurance and that he was a good person. I think the story was alright a little confused when he goes from funeral to a party.
ReplyDelete*…((*Tro! *))…* Based on the story, what types of comments do you believe people would say about Big Joe at his funeral? Based on the story I say big Joe was a tricky person meaning when he was in the coffin having every body think that he was dead knowing that he wasn’t the whole time. And he was brave and money ways like when the cops came he didn’t panic he just stayed calm because if you was to panic the cops would already find you guilty and Joe just went about his business and stayed put. And ill also say Joe was smart because he knew when cassie asked for money Joe knew that she wasn’t gunner pay him back but he lend it to her anyways.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line in the story is when Joe was at the funeral and he had every body thinking he was dead. So they started crying and talking about him giving him good feed back about his life story and who he use to be when he was alive after his life expired. Then all of a sudden he popped op then every body was fooled then they all rent to go celebrate at Joes house and that was my favorite line of the story.

ReplyDelete1) Based on the story, what types of comments do you believe people would say about Big Joe at his funeral?
Based on the reading I think people would say Big Joe was a fare man. Big Joe helped anyone in need. Whether it was money, food or clothes. Big Joe was very well liked and popular it seemed to me he had a lot of “haters” despite the “haters” 145th street would not be he same without him.
2) Pick your favorite line from the story & explain why you chose it.
My favorite line from the is on page eight, third paragraph, last sentence & the sentence states “I’ll Be Glad When You’re Dead You Rascal You!” I like this sentence from the short story because it’s the climax of the introduction. This sentence gets the story started and it intrigues readers to want to read more.
On page five in the book, the author writes that, "You could go to Big Joe and he'd listen to you and more than likely help you out, too."Based on the story people would say he was a good man, he helped people, he was funny.
ReplyDeleteAt Big Joe's funeral people will probably say that Big Joe is a kind and well-known man on 145 streets. And they probably said that he will be in their memories and they will never forget him. Other things they probably said about Big Joe is that he did wonderful things to people and he helped everyone out and he is a good citizen on 145 street and he will always be known on 145 street.
ReplyDeleteOne of the favorite lines I like in the book was that “ When Peaches heard about Big Joe’s plans she was madder than a junkyard dog with fleas.” I chosen that line because it shows how mad Peaches is and it was very descriptive and you can tell that she’s mad like a junkyard dog with fleas.
At Big Joe’s funeral people would say that he was the best on the block, he was the best man ever to look up to as a friend/father, and if you had any thing to say or tell you can say it or tell it to Big Joe because he won’t rat you out or snitch on you. Plus he is a good person to hang around with and chill wit, and joke around with. He just a good person.
ReplyDeleteBased on the reading people would probably have a lot of things to say about Big Joe. Even though Big Joe did something foolish by having a fake funeral, that doesn’t change what he has done for his community. People will probably say Big Joe is a great guy and when I was down big Joe helped me out. They can say things like Big Joe wasn’t a selfish man and her contribute things to our community. He even helped Cassie, when he knew she wouldn’t pay him back. Big Joe did things because he cared about his community and wanted to experience a funeral alive so he can probably get a better idea of who really cares for him.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line in this book was when peaches said, “You don’t mess with dying”. That’s true because death is a real serious things and there’s no coming back once your gone. I think for the most part peaches must be hurt because she hates the thought of Big Joe being dead and I think anyone will feel that way. Death is something that will soon come and Big Joe couldn’t save his money and married Sadie. Big Joe could’ve told her when he dies how he will like he’s funeral to be and she could’ve had his dream funeral. He could have watch from heaven down on his funeral and see what people had to say. Only this time it would have been the really deal and people would have really felt grief.
1) Based on the story, what types of comments do you believe people would say about Big Joe at his funeral?
ReplyDeleteBased on the reading the types of comments that people would say at his funeral would be respectful comments because everybody like big Joe and he was very on 145th street . People would compliment him and show lots of respect, on page 9 on cop said that it is against the law to have boom boxes up that loud because you need to have respect for te funeral.
2) Choose your favorite line in the story and explain why you chose it.
My favorite line from the story would have to be “ you’re right child” Mother Fletcher said. “ The flesh fades but the spirit lives on to its eternal reward.” I don’t fully understand this quote but I like it because my perspective on it is That even though the outer shell of a person is dead but the spirit will always live on to there reward.
At big Joe’s funeral people would say that he is crazy for doing a fake death. Also why is he going to spend his money on something foolish when he can do something else? Also I think he wanted to do it so that he can hear what people are saying about him like something bad or good. When it said now, besides Sadie and peaches there were some sister from the church who thought the idea was a little peculiar and they made sure that everybody knew it, but even some of then showed up because they appreciated a good funeral, too”. (Pg: 5)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite quote from 145th Street was “if I’m lying I’m flying”. The reason why I like this quote is because my uncle said that but I only met him once and then he die, so that is why this is my favorite.
Based on the reading people are going to say bad and good things at his funeral. The reason why I think that they are going to say bad things about him at his funeral is because they are going to look back and remember that he had a false funeral. The reason why I think they are going to say good things about him at his funeral is because he was a good man. The reason why I said he was a good man was because based on what I read he owned a restaurant. Another reason why they are going to say good things about big Joe at his funeral is because he was a good man. (Pg.5, If he’s going to b a good husband what’s he doing going around acting stupid?)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line in the story is “ Then it popped open big Joe sat up.” That was my favorite line from what I read so far. The reason why that was my favorite line was because it was unexpected. Another reason why that was my favorite line was because when he popped up I could visually see it. That’s why that was my favorite part of the short story.
Based on the story, types of comments i believe people would say about Big Joe at his funeral are that he was a good man but he had his problems.
ReplyDeleteTypes of comments i want people saying about me at my funeralare that I was a good person. I would want people to say that they wish I was still alive. I would want people to reminisce about the times they had with me and how silly and crazy I was.
1) Based on the story, what types of comments do you believe people would say about Big Joe at his funeral?
ReplyDeleteBased on the reading I believe people would say good things about Big Joe at his funeral. In the story the narrator said, “ EVERYBODY likes Big Joe. But if we are talking about Big Joe’s REAL funeral, Some people would say that e put tat on himself for having a fake funeral just to get money, or they would say that he was kind of foolish sometimes and immature at times but he was always a good person. Like at the end when he lent the money to the girl Cassie, even though he knew she wasn’t going to pay him back he still lent the money to her. So people would say a lot of good things about him because he was a very nice person.
2) Choose your favorite line in the story and explain why you chose it.
1)My favorite line in the story is when the narrator says “If there was a breeze in the ‘hood it must have stopped somewhere for an iced tea because I didn’t see or feel it”. That was “My” favorite line of the story because it was funny and clever. So that was a good line in the story it was very clever. I think he meant as in it was very hot that the wind needed some iced tea. I really liked the joke because it was something I could have said. That was very funny and that was my favorite line in the short story we just read.
At Big Joes funeral some people might comment how Big Joe would help out his community, or how much Big Joe was important to them and what he did to help them, or maybe even what type of person he was when Big Joe was “when he was alive”. For Example the type of person Big Joe is a caring person, Big Joe was the type of person who “if you were down on your luck and need a meal or a pair of shoes or half the money for rent Big Joe would listen to you and more than likely help you out” (pg 5) Another example which show what type of person Big Joe is on page 12 n 13. “ Cassie want to Big Joe and got cash she need to get her husband out of jail. Cassie probably wasn’t going to pay him back and Big Joe knew it, but he lent it to her anyways.”
ReplyDelete“ And the next time I have a funeral,” Big Joe said, “ I better hear you there crying and carrying on.” Cassie smiled and went on up 145th street towards the subway.”
This is my favorite line in the story because this shows many emotions in these sentences such as sadness turning it to a smile and etc.
Based on the reading the type of comments that I think people would say at Big Joe’s funeral is that he is a funny person and that he is very helpful to others. The reason that I say this is because on page 5 it says, “ Big Joe was popular on 145th street. If you were a little down on your luck and needed a meal, or a pair of shoes, or even half the months rent, you could go to Big Joe and he’d listen to you and more than likely help you out, tool.” This sentence shows that Big Joe would help anybody out if they needed help and that is very nice of him. I say that he is funny because he planned a funeral for himself and he wasn’t dead yet and when he got to the burial grounds they put a little dirt on the casket then Big Joes popped out of the casket and scared most of the people and I think that is funny.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite line in the chapter Big Joes Funeral was the line that read “First the cars went down to 145th street, where Big Joe lived, and we went past his house real slow, showing respect to where he had spent his life then we turned and went up to 145th and past the restaurant real slow. I like this part because it was so sympathetic but the funny part was that Big Joes wasn’t really dead.
